The body control module (BCM) controls the R14 IGN relay through the run/crank ignition circuit by applying voltage to the circuit. The R14 IGN relay is energized when the ignition switch is in the RUN or CRANK position, or when a remote start is requested.
• | The system voltage is between 9-16 V. |
• | The ignition 1 relay control output is active. |
The BCM detects a short to ground on the ignition circuit.
The BCM disables the ignition output driver.
• | The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists. |
• | A history DTC will clear once 50 consecutive malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred. |

⇒ | If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always ON, test the B+ circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the test lamp is always OFF, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If not within the specified range, replace the relay. |
