Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  4. Drain the engine coolant below the level of the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
  5. Lower the vehicle.

  7. Disconnect the ETC wiring harness connector (1) from the ECT sensor.

  8. Object Number: 1950891  Size: SH

    Notice: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  9. Remove the ECT sensor (2) from the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Replacement components must be the correct part number for the application. Components requiring the use of the thread locking compound, lubricants, corrosion inhibitors, or sealants are identified in the service procedure. Some replacement components may come with these coatings already applied. Do not use these coatings on components unless specified. These coatings can affect the final torque, which may affect the operation of the component. Use the correct torque specification when installing components in order to avoid damage.

    Notice: Use care when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the coolant sensor will affect the operation of the fuel control system.

  1. Coat the ECT sensor threads with sealer or the equivalent.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the ECT sensor (2) to the cylinder head.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  5. Connect the ETC wiring harness connector (1) ECT sensor.
  6. Refill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
