Heater Core Replacement RHD

Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

Important: Cover any opening of the A/C system with a suitable cap or tape immediately, to prevent absorption of moisture from the atmosphere.

Important: Apply tape or blanking plugs to the heater core pipes to contain any coolant left in the heater core, This is to avoid a coolant spill onto the carpet during HVAC removal.

2. Remove the HVAC module assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement.



3. Remove the foam seal (1) from the heater core pipes (2).




Important: The heater core pipe locating plate (1) incorporates two guide pins (4) to locate the heater core pipe locating plate (1) to the HVAC module assembly (3). Care must be taken not to damage the guide pins (4).

4. Remove the heater core pipe locating plate to HVAC module assembly retaining screw (2).
5. Remove the heater core pipe locating plate (1) from the HVAC module assembly (3).



6. Remove the heater core retaining plate to HVAC module assembly retaining screw (3).
7. Remove the heater core retaining plate (1) from the HVAC module assembly (2).




Important: Carefully slide the heater core (2) out of the HVAC module assembly (1).

8. Remove the heater core (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).

Important: Make sure that all the foam seals are fitted when installing the heater core (2). If a foam seal is missing do not fit the heater core (2).

1. Install the heater core (2) into the HVAC module assembly (1).



2. Install the heater core retaining plate (1) to the HVAC module assembly (2).

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

3. Install the heater core retaining plate to HVAC module assembly retaining screw (3).

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).





Important: The heater core pipe locating plate (2) incorporates two guide pins (4) to locate the heater core pipe locating plate (2) to the HVAC module assembly (3). Care must be taken not to damage the guide pins (4).

4. Install the heater core pipe locating plate (2) to the HVAC module assembly (3).
5. Install the heater core pipe locating plate to HVAC module assembly retaining screw (1).

Tighten
Tighten the screw to 1 N·m (9 lb in).

6. Install the HVAC module assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement.
7. Refill the coolant system, Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling.
8. Recharge the refrigerant Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
