  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Check for engine control diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Is the vehicle speed sensor DTC set?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect engine control module (ECM) connector.
  3. Remove the instrument cluster.
  4. Measure continuity between ECM terminal K30 (MR-140), terminal B31 (HV-240), terminal 40 (SIRUS D4) in Gasoline and terminal K89 in Diesel and the instrument cluster terminal B3, terminal A21 in Diesel.

Does the ohmmeter indicate the specified value?

0 ohms

Go to Step 4

Repair the open circuit between the instrument cluster connector terminal B3, terminal A21 in Diesel and the ECM terminal K30 (MR-140), terminal B31 (HV-240), terminal 40 (SIRUS D4) in Gasoline and terminal K89 in Diesel.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the fuel gage.
