R--Replace or change:

Footnotes:

(1) Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.

(3) More frequent maintenance is required if under severe conditions:

    • Short distance driving
    • Extensive idling
    • Frequent low-speed operation in stop and go traffic
    • Driving in dusty conditions

(4) Change the brake/clutch fluid every 15 000 km (10,000 mi) if the vehicle is mainly driven under the following severe conditions:

    • Driving in hilly or mountainous terrain
    • Towing a trailer/caravan frequently

(5) 1.8 DOHC model (ZP 4HP 16 Automatic Transaxle only): Change automatic transaxle fluid every 60 000 km (40,000 mi) if the vehicle is mainly driven under any of the following severe conditions:

    • Heavy city traffic where the outside temperature regularly reaches 32°C (90°F) or higher
    • Hilly or mountainous terrain
    • Frequent trailer towing
    • Uses such as taxi, police, or delivery service

(6) More frequent maintenance is required if under dusty driving conditions.

(7) If necessary, rotate and balance wheels.

(8) Tire condition should be inspected before driving and tire pressure should be checked each time you fill your fuel tank or at least once a month using a tire pressure gage.

(9) The transaxle fluid change is not required. Also, routine inspection of the fluid is not required. Transaxle fluid inspection is only required if there is a symptom indicating a concern with the fluid.
