DTC Descriptor

DTC B101D 00: ECU Hardware Performance, EEPROM Failure

Circuit/System Description

The secondary information centre (SIC) interface module uses GMLAN to communicate between the drivers information centre (DIC), infotainment unit, engine control module (ECM) and the body control module (BCM). DTC B101D indicates that the SIC has an internal fault and is not affected by any external circuits.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts

Conditions for Setting the DTC

When the SIC has recognised an internal fault.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

This code will set as current when the SIC recognises an internal fault or fails to communicate with the BCM.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
    • The DTC can be cleared using a scan tool.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, wait for 30 seconds.
  2. Ignition ON, using the scan tool, select the DTC display function.
  3. If DTC  B101D is set to current, clear all DTCs.
    Verify that no other DTCs are set.
  4. Ignition ON, using the scan tool view the Current DTCs.
  5. If DTC  B101D is set to current replace the SIC interface Module.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
