Driver or Passenger Seat Side Inflatable Restraint Module Replacement LHD
Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• | Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
• | Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
• | If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- Remove the front seat. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
- Remove the front seat back trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement.
- Remove the module wiring harness (1), (2), (3)
and (4) from the side of seat frame.
- Remove the 2 bracket retaining nuts (1) holding
the module (2) to the seat frame.
- Remove the module wiring harness (1) from under
the seat frame.
- Fully deploy the module before disposal. If the module was replaced under
warranty, fully deploy and dispose of the module after the required retention period.

Installation Procedure
- Install a new inflatable restraint side impact module to the seat frame.
- Install the module (2) to the seat frame and
install the 2 retaining nuts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the module wiring harness (1), (2), (3)
and (4) to the seat.
- Install the module wiring harness (1) through
the underside of the seat frame.
- Install the front seat back trim cover, refer to
Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement.
- Install the front seat. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the module (2) to the seat frame and
install the 2 retaining nuts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the module wiring harness (1), (2), (3)
and (4) to the seat.
- Install the module wiring harness (1) through
the underside of the seat frame.
- Install the front seat back trim cover. Refer to
Front Seat Back Cushion Cover and Cushion Pad Replacement.
- Install the front seat. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling.
- If re-programming is required. Refer to
Control Module References.
