Circuit/System Description
The Stability Ctrl Off indicator is controlled by the instrument cluster via
serial data messages from the EBCM. When the stability control switch input is grounded
through the momentary stability control switch, it sends a serial data message to
the EBCM that tells the EBCM that the stability control switch has been pressed. The
EBCM then disables stability control and sends a serial data message to the instrument
cluster to turn on the Stability Ctrl Off indicator on the instrument panel. Each
time the ignition is cycled from OFF to ON, the stability control system is enabled.

Circuit/System Testing
- Install a scan tool.
- Ignition ON engine OFF, observe the ESP Failed parameter in the Body/EBCM/data
list.
⇒ | If the indicator parameter does not display OFF inspect for poor connections
at the harness connector of the EBCM. |
⇒ | If the connections at the harness connector of the EBCM are OK, replace the
EBCM. |
- Ignition ON engine OFF, observe the Stability Ctrl Off indicator on the
instrument panel cluster (IPC) during the bulb check.
⇒ | If the indicator parameter does not display OFF inspect for poor connections
at the harness connector of the IPC. |
⇒ | If the connections at the harness connector of the IPC are OK, replace the IPC. |
