DTC Descriptor

DTC C0558 4A: Calibration Data Not Programmed Failure - Checksum Error

Circuit/System Description

The electronic suspension control (ESC) module performs checks of internal calibration data. if a fault condition is detected, the ESC module will set the fault DTC and may, depending upon the fault type, illuminate the LED in the ESC switch. Recovery from any controller fault condition is attempted only after the ignition is cycled ON and OFF

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

    • The DTC is set when any calibration faults internal to the ESC module are detected.
    • The fault is detected during 3 consecutive ignition cycles or during the same ignition cycle after clearing the DTC with the scan tool.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The ESC module illuminates the LED in the ESC switch.
    • The ESC module disables all ESC functionality.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A history DTC will clear when the ESC no longer senses the malfunction and the ignition is cycled ON and OFF.
    • Using a TECH2 Scan Tool Unit.

ESC Malfunction Indicator Lamp

When all DTC's are cleared, and the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle has been performed the ESC malfunction indicator lamp may stay illuminated for a period of up to 5 seconds when the ignition switch is moved to the "off" position. The ESC malfunction indicator lamp should switch off when the ignition is switched to the "on" position.

Circuit/System Verification

  1. Verify that no other DTCs are present, if any other DTCs are present diagnose those DTCs prior to any circuit or component testing.
  2. Verify that DTC C0558 is not set.
  3. If the DTC, is set replace the ESC.
