Diagnostic Instructions
Circuit/System Description
With the ignition in either the ACC position or the ON position the rear seat entertainment (RSE) interface module continuously sends a communication signal to the DVD player. Upon receiving the signal, the DVD player sends a reply signal, confirming that
it can communicate. DTC U2201 will set to indicate the DVD Player has not received a communication signal or replied when the RSE interface module has requested operation.
Conditions for Running the DTC
DTC U2201 runs continuously once a valid DVD player response occurs.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The RSE interface module does not receive a response from the DVD player after 3 consecutive communication attempts.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The rear seat entertainment system fails to operate.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
• | The current DTC will clear when the RSE interface module receives a communication reply from the DVD player. |
• | The history DTC will clear after 50 fault-free ignition cycles have occurred. |

Circuit/System Testing
- Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function. Verify that DTC U2201 is set.
- If DTC U2201 is set, turn OFF the RSE system for 30 seconds.
- Ignition ON, RSE system ON, select the DVD function for the system. Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function and verify that DTC U2201 is set to current.
- Press the eject button on the DVD player and audibly verify that the DVD player has eject/load capability.
⇒ | If the DVD player fails to eject verify that DTC B1325 is not set to current. |
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the RSE interface module and DVD player harness connectors.
- Using a DMM test the RSE interface module and DVD player; communication, power and ground circuits for short to ground or an open/high resistance.
⇒ | If the circuits do not test normal, repair or replace the effected circuit(s). |
⇒ | If the circuits test normal, replace the DVD player. |
- Using the scan tool, select the DTC display function. If DTC U2201 resets, replace the audio video interface module.
