Reverse Inhibit Solenoid Command | OFF | OFF | OFF |
Battery voltage (B+) is supplied directly to the reverse lockout solenoid. The engine control module (ECM) controls the reverses lockout solenoid by grounding the control circuit via an internal switch called a low side driver. The low side driver has a fault line which monitors the control circuit. When the ECM commands the reverse lockout solenoid ON, the voltage on the control circuit should be low, near 0 volts. When the ECM commands the control circuit to the reverse lockout solenoid OFF, the voltage should be high, near battery voltage.
• | The engine is running. |
• | The vehicle speed is less than 3 km/h (2 mph). |
• | The ECM detects that the commanded state of the driver and the actual state of the control circuit does not match. |
• | The condition exists for 2 seconds. |
P0801 is a Type C DTC.
P0801 is a Type C DTC.
• | The battery must be fully charged and pass a battery test. Refer to Battery Inspection/Test. |
• | The reverse lockout solenoid is referred to as the reverse inhibit solenoid on the scan tool. |

⇒ | Each parameter should toggle between OK and Not Run or Not Run and OK. |
Important: You must perform the Circuit/System Verification first.
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the circuit fuse is open, replace the reverse lockout solenoid. |
⇒ | If the test lamp illuminates, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM. |
⇒ | If not the specified value, test the control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the ECM. |
⇒ | If another DTC is present, refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List - Vehicle and perform the appropriate diagnostic procedure. |
