The following service procedures require either a programming or a setup event performed for a complete repair.
Caution: Replacement or reprogramming of the ECM, or replacement of the clutch pedal position sensor (CPPS) or clutch pedal requires that a CPPS learn procedure be performed. Failure to perform the CPPS learn procedure may result in personal injury or damage to the vehicle or its components if the vehicle is in gear and the starter motor is accidentally engaged.
If the engine control module (ECM) is replaced, the following procedures must be performed:
Important: When replacing the ECM, the ECM must be reset prior to removal. Failure to perform this procedure will result in the inability to:
• Test the ECM for warranty purposes. • Install the ECM into other vehicles.

• | If the ECM needs to be reprogrammed, refer to Service Programming System (SPS). |
• | The Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Learn--Refer to Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Learn. |
• | Engine Oil Life Remaining - When available, use a scan tool to reset the Engine Oil Life Remaining back to the original percentage recorded before the module was reprogrammed. |
The replacement of some components will require a setup procedure for complete repair.
If any of the following components are replaced, a CKP Variation Learn Procedure must be performed. Refer to Customer Concern Verification Sheets.
• | Engine replacement. |
• | Any engine repair that disturbs the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor or its relationship with the crankshaft reluctor wheel. |
• | CKP sensor. |
