DTC Descriptor

DTC C0460 00: Replace Steering Angle Sensor

DTC C0460 12: Steering Angle Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

DTC C0460 42: Steering Angle Sensor Not Calibrated

DTC C0460 71: Steering Angle Sensor Invalid Signal

DTC C0460 5A: Steering Angle Sensor Plausibility Error

Circuit/System Description

The steering wheel position sensor supplies 2 analog inputs, Phase A and Phase B, to the electronic brake control module (EBCM). The 2 input signals are approximately 90 degrees out of phase. By interpreting the relationship between the 2 inputs, the EBCM can determine the position of the steering wheel and the direction of the steering wheel rotation.

Conditions for Running the DTC

    • The ignition is ON.
    • Ignition voltage is greater than 8 volts.
    • The vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h (6.2 mph).

Conditions for Setting the DTC

REQUIRED

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • The EBCM disables the Electronic Stability Control (ESP)/Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) for the duration of the ignition cycle.
    • The multi function display (MFD) displays the Stability Ctrl Off message.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The condition for setting the DTC is no longer present.
