The Transmission Scan Tool Data Definitions contain a brief description of manual transmission related parameters available on the scan tool. The list is in alphabetical order. A given parameter may appear in any one of the data lists. In some cases, the parameter appears more than once or in more than one data list in order to group certain related parameters together.
CPP Switch: This parameter displays the state of the clutch pedal switch circuit input. The scan tool will display APPLIED when the clutch pedal is depressed, and RELEASED when the clutch pedal is released. The Transmission Scan Tool Data List contains manual transmission related parameters that are available on the scan tool. The list is arranged in alphabetical order. A given parameter may appear in any one of the data lists, and in some cases may appear more than once, or in more than one data list in order to group certain related parameters together.
Use the Transmission Scan Tool Data List only after the following is determined:
• | The Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information, is completed. |
• | There are no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) shown. |
• | The on-board diagnostics are functioning properly. |
Scan tool values from a properly functioning vehicle may be used for comparison with the vehicle you are diagnosing.
Important: A scan tool that displays faulty data should not be used. The scan tool concern should be reported to the manufacturer. Use of a faulty scan tool can result in misdiagnosis and unnecessary parts replacement.
Only the parameters listed below are referenced in this service manual for use in diagnosis. If all values are within the typical range described below, refer to Symptoms - Manual Transmission in Manual Transmission - Aisin AY6.
The column labelled Data List indicates where a parameter can be located on the scan tool. Refer to the scan tool operating manual for the exact locations of the data lists. The following is a description of each term listed:

Use the scan tool data values under the following conditions:
• | The Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle in Vehicle DTC Information is complete. |
• | The on-board diagnostics are functioning properly. |
• | No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) are present. |
The values below represent a typical display recorded from a properly functioning system.
Important: Do not use a scan tool that displays faulty data. Report the condition to the scan tool manufacturer. The use of a faulty scan tool can result in misdiagnosis and the unnecessary replacement of parts.
Only the parameters listed below are used in this manual for diagnosing. If a scan tool displays other parameters, the values are not recommended by General Motors for use in diagnosis.
Scan tool values below were recorded under the following conditions:
• | Engine at idle |
• | Upper radiator hose hot |
