Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 748031  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  2. Drain the brake fluid from the reservoir.
  3. Notice: Do not clamp on the master cylinder body. Doing so may damage the master cylinder.

  4. Clamp the flange of the master cylinder body in a vise.

  6. Remove the retaining pins for the brake master cylinder reservoir.

  7. Object Number: 748575  Size: SH
  8. Remove the reservoir from the brake master cylinder.

  9. Object Number: 786032  Size: SH
  10. Remove the seals from the brake master cylinder.
  11. Clean the master cylinder area with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.
  12. Dry the master cylinder with non-lubricated, filtered air.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 786032  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new seals and the outer surface area of the reservoir-to-housing barrels with GM approved brake fluid from a clean, sealed brake fluid container. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations.
  2. Install the lubricated seals, make sure that the seals are fully seated in the brake master cylinder.

    Important: When performing the following service procedure, apply equal pressure to ensure proper seating of the reservoir and the pin holes are aligned.

  4. Install the reservoir to the brake master cylinder.

  5. Object Number: 748577  Size: SH
  6. Install the reservoir retaining pins.

  7. Object Number: 748031  Size: SH
  8. Remove the brake master cylinder from the vise.
  9. Install the brake master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
