Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  2. Remove the screws from the defroster actuator.
  3. Remove the defroster actuator.

  4. Object Number: 742346  Size: SH
  5. Remove screws in order to separate the defroster/mode outlet cover (2) from the HVAC module assembly (1).
  6. Remove the defroster/mode outlet cover.

  7. Object Number: 735985  Size: SH
  8. Remove the defroster door (1) from the HVAC module assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 735985  Size: SH
  1. Install the defroster door (1) to the HVAC module assembly.
  2. Install the defroster/mode outlet cover.

  3. Object Number: 742346  Size: SH
  4. Install the defroster/mode outlet cover screws to the HVAC module assembly (1).
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the screws to assemble the defroster/mode outlet to the HVAC module assembly.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the defroster actuator.
  9. Install the screws to the defroster actuator.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.9 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the I/P carrier. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
