Removal Procedure
- Remove the differential. Refer to
Differential Replacement.
- Install the differential assembly in a vise.
- Using the
J 22888-D puller
(2) and the
J 8107-2 plug
, 8.0 inch axle, or
the
J 8107-4 puller
, 8.6 inch axle, or the
J 36597 pilot
9.5 inch axle (1), remove
the differential side bearings.
- Remove the differential assembly from the vise.
Installation Procedure
- Place the differential assembly on a flat surface.
Note: In order to protect the differential case, install the
J 8107-2 plug
for the 8.0 inch axle or the
J 8107-4 puller
for the 8.6, 9.5 inch axle, in the case on the side opposite the bearing installation.
- Using the
J 45231 installer
, 8.0 inch axle, or the
J 21784 puller
, 8.6 inch axle (2),
or the
J 29710 installer
for the 9.5 (2) inch axle and the
J 8092 handle
(1), install the differential
side bearings.
- Install the differential. Refer to
Differential Replacement.
