Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement Body VIN Type 6

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the washer bottle. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.

  3. Object Number: 871568  Size: SH
  4. Remove the retaining nut (1) from the compressor hose (4) at the accumulator (2).
  5. Remove the retaining nut from the compressor hose at the auxiliary HVAC piping connection (3).
  6. Remove the compressor hose from the accumulator (2).
  7. Remove the compressor hose from the auxiliary HVAC piping.
  8. Lift the vehicle to access the compressor hose assembly at the compressor. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  9. Object Number: 628247  Size: SH
  10. Remove the compressor hose mounting nut (2) from the A/C compressor.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Remove the heater hose bracket nut at the engine.
  13. Remove the bracket from the stud.
  14. Turn the compressor hose assembly to clear the heat shield.
  15. Lift and remove the compressor hose assembly from the compressor.
  16. Remove the electrical connection.

  18. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the condenser.
  19. Remove the compressor hose assembly.
  20. Remove the compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
  21. Remove the compressor hose from the condenser.
  22. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C low pressure switch.
  23. Remove the nut from the compressor hose at the accumulator.
  24. Remove the compressor hose from the accumulator.
  25. Remove the compressor hose from the vehicle.
  26. Discard all of the used sealing washers. Cap the system openings.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the compressor hose assembly.

  2. Object Number: 363062  Size: SH
  3. Install the compressor hose to the condenser using new sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the compressor hose nut to the condenser.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  7. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C low pressure switch.

  8. Object Number: 871568  Size: SH
  9. Install the compressor hose to the accumulator using new sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  10. Install the nut (1) to the accumulator.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  12. Install the compressor hose (1) to the A/C compressor using new sealing washers. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  13. Install the compressor hose nut.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  15. Install the washer bottle. Refer to Windshield Washer Solvent Container Replacement in Wipers/Washer Systems.
  16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  17. Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A .
