Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 731614  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Raise and support the rear axle at the designed D - height. Refer to Trim Height Specifications in Suspension General Diagnosis.
  3. Remove the rear axle brace and rear axle tie rod to the rear axle mounting bolt.

  4. Object Number: 731618  Size: SH
  5. Remove the rear axle brace to frame mounting nut.
  6. Remove the rear axle brace from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 731618  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear axle brace to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the rear axle brace to frame mounting nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear axle brace to frame mounting nut to 95 N·m (70 lb ft).

  5. Install the rear axle brace and rear axle tie rod to the rear axle mounting bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear axle brace and rear axle tie rod to the rear axle mounting bolt to 195 N·m (144 lb ft).

  7. Remove the rear axle support.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
