Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement RWD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 743104  Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  4. Remove the ABS sensor mounting bolt from the wheel hub and bearing.
  5. Remove the ABS sensor from the wheel hub and bearing.

  7. Remove the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle mounting bolts.

  8. Object Number: 750559  Size: SH
  9. Remove the wheel hub and bearing from the steerng knuckle.
  10. Remove the spash shield from the steering knuckle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 750559  Size: SH
  1. Install the splash shield to the steering knuckle. Align the splash shield to the steering knuckle threaded holes.
  2. Install the wheel hub and bearing to the steerng knuckle. Align the threaded holes.

  3. Object Number: 750558  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts to 105 N·m (77 lb ft).

  6. Install the ABS sensor to the wheel hub and bearing.
  7. Install the ABS sensor mounting bolt to the wheel hub and bearing.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the ABS sensor to the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  10. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the Vehicle.

Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement 4WD

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 731551  Size: SH
  1. Remove the tire and wheel center cap.
  2. Remove the drive axle nut.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  5. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.

  6. Object Number: 392501  Size: SH
  7. Disengage the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing. Place a brass drift against the outer end of the wheel drive shaft in order to protect the wheel drive shaft threads. Sharply strike the brass drift with the hammer. Do not attempt to remove the wheel drive shaft from the wheel hub and bearing at this time.

  9. Remove the ABS sensor mounting bolt from the wheel hub and bearing.
  10. Remove the ABS sensor from the wheel hub and bearing.

  11. Object Number: 743087  Size: SH
  12. Remove the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle mounting bolts.

  13. Object Number: 743090  Size: SH
  14. Remove the wheel hub and bearing from the steerng knuckle.
  15. Remove the spash shield from the steering knuckle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 743090  Size: SH
  1. Install the splash shield to the steering knuckle. Align the splash shield to the steering knuckle threaded holes.
  2. Install the wheel hub and bearing to the steerng knuckle. Align the threaded holes.

  3. Object Number: 743087  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   4. Install the wheel hub and bearing to the steering knuckle mounting bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolts to 105 N·m (77 lb ft).

  6. Install the ABS sensor to the wheel hub and bearing.
  7. Install the ABS sensor mounting bolt to the wheel hub and bearing.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the ABS sensor to the wheel hub and bearing mounting bolt to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  9. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  10. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. Install the drive axle nut.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the drive axle nut to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  14. Install the tire and wheel center cap.
