Endgate Power Window System Components
The endgate power window system consists of the following components:
• | Endgate key cylinder switch |
• | Endgate window interior emergency switch |
• | 4th button of the key fob |
• | Endgate window regulator |
• | Endgate regulator 30-amp circuit breaker |
Endgate Power Window System Controls
The endgate power window can be controlled by the following:
• | Endgate window switch Up, Down or Express Down activation |
• | Endgate key cylinder switch Up or Down activation |
• | Endgate window interior emergency switch activation |
• | Activation of the 4th button of the key fob |
• | Power roof switch activation |
Endgate Power Window Operation
The endgate power window is controlled by the endgate key cylinder, an RFA signal from the 4th button of the key fob or a class 2 functional message from the power roof module.
When the endgate key cylinder is rotated clockwise, the endgate module provides 12 volts to the endgate window regulator down signal circuit, driving the endgate power window in the down direction. When the endgate key cylinder is rotated counterclockwise,
the endgate module provides 12 volts to the endgate window regulator up signal circuit, driving the endgate power window in the up direction.
When the 4th button of the key fob is pressed twice, the endgate module provides 12 volts to the endgate window regulator down signal circuit, driving the endgate power window in the express down direction.
The endgate module and power roof module communicate switch inputs and power roof and endgate window status information through the Class 2 Serial Data circuit to ensure the proper sequence of roof and window operation is followed. When the endgate window
switch, the endgate window interior emergency switch or the power roof down switch has been activated, the power roof module sends a class 2 functional message to the endgate module to provide 12 volts to the endgate window regulator signal circuits,
driving the endgate power window in the requested direction.
The endgate module monitors 2 hall sensors located on the motor assembly to calculate the window position and motor speed. In order for the endgate module to correctly determine the window location the module has to learn the top and bottom limits of the
window regulator assembly. The learn cycle procedure will have to be performed any time window components are serviced or anomalies occur which cause the control module to lose the glass position. Refer to
Endgate Window Learn Cycle
.
The endgate power window and power roof systems operate in a sequence and both systems must be properly calibrated for either system to operate normally. Refer to
Power Roof Description and Operation
.
TAILGATE GLASS DOWN Message
The TAILGATE GLASS DOWN message will be displayed on the driver information center (DIC) whenever rear wiper or rear defogger operation has been requested and the endgate window is open. The endgate window must be in the full up position in order for the
rear wiper or rear defogger to operate.
SEE MANUAL - TAILGATE Message
The SEE MANUAL - TAILGATE message will be displayed on the driver information center (DIC) whenever the endgate window position needs to be relearned. Refer to
Endgate Window Learn Cycle
