Circuit/System Description

The adjustable pedal motor control circuits are controlled by the adjustable pedal relay. The adjustable pedal relay may be controlled by either the memory seat module (MSM) or the adjustable pedal switch. In an inactive state both of the relay switch contacts are closed to the ground circuit. The relay coils are energized when B+ is supplied to the relay control circuits by either the MSM or the adjustable pedal switch. When the forward control or rearward control relay coil is energized the appropriate motor control circuit is switched to the B+ supply circuit contact.

Conditions for Running the DTC

System voltage to the MSM must be 7-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The MSM detects one of the following conditions on either of the adjustable pedal relay control circuits:

    • An open or short to voltage while the MSM output is in an inactive state
    • A short to ground while the MSM output is in an active state

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The memory recall functions will be disabled for as long as the DTC is current.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The DTC will be stored as a history code when the fault is no longer present.
    • A history DTC will be cleared after 100 consecutive ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the adjustable pedal relay.
  2. Test for less than 10 ohms between the ground circuit terminal D and ground.
  3. If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
  4. Verify a test lamp illuminates between the B+ circuit terminal C and ground.
  5. If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal and the circuit fuse is open, test the adjustable pedal motor control circuits for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the adjustable pedal assembly.
  6. Disconnect the harness connector at the adjustable pedal switch.
  7. Connect a test lamp between terminal A and ground of the adjustable pedals relay connector.
  8. Command the Adjustable Pedals Forward/Rearward Control with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the forward control.
  9. If the test lamp remains ON, test the adjustable pedals relay forward control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
If the test lamp remains OFF, test the adjustable pedals relay forward control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  10. Connect a test lamp between terminal F and ground of the adjustable pedals relay connector.
  11. Command the Adjustable Pedals Forward/Rearward Control with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON when commanding the rearward control.
  12. If the test lamp remains ON, test the adjustable pedals relay rearward control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
If the test lamp remains OFF, test the adjustable pedals relay rearward control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the MSM.
  13. Connect the adjustable pedal switch.
  14. Verify a test lamp does not illuminate between the relay control circuit terminals listed below and ground:
  15. • Terminal A
    • Terminal F
If the test lamp illuminates, replace the adjustable pedals switch.
  16. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the adjustable pedal relay.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification after completing the diagnostic procedure.
