Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 2061881  Size: SH
  1. Apply the park brake lever.
  2. Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the power vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
  3. Disconnect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
  4. Remove the master cylinder nuts (1).

  6. Without disconnecting the brake pipes, separate the master cylinder (1) from the power vacuum brake booster.
  7. Position the master cylinder aside and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent in an upright position.
  8. Remove the master cylinder O-ring seal (2).

  9. Object Number: 2061883  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster and check valve assembly (1) from the power vacuum brake booster.

  11. Object Number: 2070637  Size: SH
  12. Remove the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement.
  13. Remove the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1).

  14. Object Number: 2070638  Size: SH
  15. Remove the power vacuum brake booster (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2070638  Size: SH
  1. Install the power vacuum brake booster (1).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1) and tighten to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).
  4. Install the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement.

  5. Object Number: 2061883  Size: SH
  6. Connect the vacuum brake booster and check valve assembly (1) to the power vacuum brake booster.
  7. If necessary, a small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease installation. Do not use soap.

  8. Position the master cylinder (1) and O-ring (2) to the power vacuum brake booster.
  9. Ensure the O-ring seal is properly positioned on the master cylinder body.

  10. Install the master cylinder nuts (1) and tighten to 36 N·m (27 lb ft).
  11. Connect the power brake booster vacuum sensor electrical connector, if equipped.
