Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.



3. Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1).



4. Without disconnecting the brake caliper hose, remove the brake caliper (1) and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent.



5. Remove the inner (1) and outer (2) brake pads.

Note the location of the brake pad wear sensors for correct installation.




6. Remove the brake pad shims (1).



7. Remove the upper guide pin (1).
8. Remove the lower guide pin (2).

Note the bushing on the lower guide pin. The lower guide pin must be installed in the same location.




9. Remove the guide pin seals (1).
10. Clean the brake caliper bracket contact surfaces with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.

1. Install the guide pin seals (1).

Note: The guide pins are not interchangeable. Note the location of the guide pins.




2. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pins.
3. Install the upper guide pin (1).

Ensure the lip of the seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin.

4. Install the lower guide pin (2).

Ensure the lip of the seal is fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin.




5. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake pad shims.
6. Install the brake pad shims (1).



7. Install the inner (1) and outer (2) brake pads.

Note the location of the brake pad wear sensors for correct installation.




8. Install the brake caliper (1) to the caliper bracket.



9. Loosely install the brake caliper guide pin bolts.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

10. Tighten the upper brake caliper guide pin bolt (1) to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
11. Tighten the lower brake caliper guide pin bolt (2) to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
12. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
13. Lower the vehicle.
