Removal Procedure

Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.

Caution: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  4. Remove the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1).

  5. Object Number: 2050207  Size: SH
  6. Without disconnecting the brake caliper hose, remove the brake caliper (1) and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent.

  7. Object Number: 2050208  Size: SH
  8. Remove the inner (1) and outer (2) brake pads.
  9. Note the location of the brake pad wear sensors for correct installation.

  10. Remove the brake pad shims (1).

  12. Remove the upper and lower guide pins (1).

  14. Remove the brake caliper guide pin seals (1).
  15. Clean the brake caliper bracket contact surfaces with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake caliper guide pin seals (1).

  2. Object Number: 2050210  Size: SH
  3. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake caliper guide pins.
  4. Install the upper and lower guide pins (1).

  5. Object Number: 2050209  Size: SH
  6. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the brake pad shims.
  7. Install the brake pad shims (1).

  8. Object Number: 2050208  Size: SH
  9. Install the inner (1) and outer (2) brake pads.
  10. Note the location of the brake pad wear sensors for correct installation.

  11. Install the brake caliper (1) to the caliper bracket.
  12. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2050206  Size: SH
  13. Install the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1) and tighten the bolts to 31 N·m (23 lb ft).
  14. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  15. Lower the vehicle.
