Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1253074 Size: SH
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the engine protection shield (EPS), if equipped. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement.
  3. Drain the front differential assembly.

    4. Object Number: 1305848 Size: SH
  4. Remove the differential cover bolts.

    5. Note: The front differential housing cover gasket is reusable. DO NOT replace unless gasket is damaged.

  5. Remove the differential cover and gasket.

Installation Procedure
  1. Fill the front differential with fluid. Refer to Front Axle Lubricant Replacement.

    2. Object Number: 1305848 Size: SH
  2. Install the differential cover and gasket.

    3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Install the differential cover bolts and tighten to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

    4. Object Number: 1253074 Size: SH
  4. Install the EPS, if equipped. Refer to Engine Protection Shield Replacement.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
