Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning in the Preface section.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
- Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
Caution: Support the brake caliper with heavy mechanic wire, or equivalent, whenever it is separated from its mount and the hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support the caliper
in this manner will cause the flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to the brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
- Without disconnecting the front brake hose, remove the brake caliper and support with heavy mechanics wire or equivalent. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement.
- Remove the disc brake pads from the brake caliper bracket.
- Remove the 2 brake caliper bracket bolts.
- Remove the brake caliper bracket.
- Inspect the disc brake hardware for damage and replace, if necessary. Refer to
Disc Brake Mounting and Hardware Inspection.
Installation Procedure
- Install the brake caliper bracket.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the 2 brake caliper bracket bolts and tighten to
180 N·m (133 lb ft).
- Install the disc brake pads to the brake caliper bracket.
- Install the brake caliper. Refer to
Brake Caliper Replacement.
