Removal Procedure

  1. Apply and release the brake pedal several times until the pedal becomes firm to deplete the brake booster vacuum reserve.

  2. Object Number: 2136369  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the power vacuum brake booster vacuum hose and check valve (1).
  4. Remove the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.
  5. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.

  6. Object Number: 2136355  Size: SH
  7. Remove the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).

  8. Object Number: 2136356  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake booster pushrod clevis pin (1).

  10. Object Number: 2136359  Size: SH
  11. Remove the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1).

  12. Object Number: 2136368  Size: SH
  13. Remove the power vacuum brake booster (1).
  14. Remove the power vacuum brake booster gasket (2).
  15. Inspect the gasket for damage and replace, if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2136368  Size: SH
  1. Install the power vacuum brake booster (1) and gasket (2).
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2136359  Size: SH
  3. Install the power vacuum brake booster nuts (1) and tighten to  20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  4. Object Number: 2136356  Size: SH
  5. Install the brake booster pushrod clevis pin (1) to the pushrod and the brake pedal.

  6. Object Number: 2136355  Size: SH
  7. Install the brake booster pushrod retainer (1).
  8. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement.
  9. Install the master cylinder assembly. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement.

  10. Object Number: 2136369  Size: SH
  11. Connect the power vacuum brake booster vacuum hose and check valve (1).
