Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement 2.9L, 3.7L
Removal Procedure
- Remove the vacuum brake booster check
valve from the vacuum brake booster.
- Remove the vacuum brake booster hose clamp at the check valve.
- Remove the vacuum brake booster check valve from the hose.
- Disconnect the vacuum brake booster hose at the engine.
- Remove the vacuum brake booster hose from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the vacuum brake booster hose
at the engine.
- Install the vacuum brake booster check valve to the hose.
- Install the vacuum brake booster hose clamp to the check valve.
- Install the vacuum brake booster check valve to the vacuum brake
booster.
Power Brake Booster Vacuum Check Valve and Hose Replacement 5.3L
Removal Procedure
- Apply and release the brake pedal several times to deplete the vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
- Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield, if equipped. Refer to
Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
- Disconnect the vacuum brake booster check valve (1) from the power
vacuum brake booster.
Release the vacuum hose clamp and remove the check valve from the hose, if necessary.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose (1) from the intake
manifold vacuum port.
Installation Procedure
- Connect the vacuum hose (1) from the intake manifold vacuum port.
Position the clamp to secure the hose to the intake manifold.
- Install the check valve to the vacuum hose, if removed.
Position the
clamp to secure the hose to the check valve.
- Connect the vacuum brake booster check valve (1) to the power vacuum brake booster.
A small amount of denatured alcohol may be used as a lubricant to ease assembly, if necessary.
- Install the upper intake manifold sight shield, if equipped. Refer to
Upper Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
