Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  3. Object Number: 1284892  Size: SH
  4. Remove the hose clamp (1).
  5. Remove the surge tank inlet pipe bolt  (2).

  6. Object Number: 1284894  Size: SH
  7. Remove the surge tank outlet hose (2) from the surge tank.

  8. Object Number: 1284900  Size: SH
  9. Remove the bolt (2) from the mounting bracket.
  10. Remove the surge tank inlet hose (1).
  11. Remove the hose from the engine.
  12. Remove the surge tank inlet pipe for the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1284900  Size: SH
  1. Install the surge tank inlet pipe.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the mounting bracket-to-engine bolt (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Connect the surge tank inlet hose to the engine.

  7. Connect the outlet hose (2) to the surge tank.

  8. Object Number: 1284892  Size: SH
  9. Install the surge tank pipe bracket bolt (2).
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the mounting bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  11. Install the surge tank inlet hose (1).
  12. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  13. Lower the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .
