J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  2. Object Number: 1005370  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the evaporator inlet tube (2) from the evaporator.

  4. Object Number: 1284875  Size: SH
  5. Remove the retaining nut (1) from the A/C line bracket.

  6. Object Number: 1005391  Size: SH
  7. Remove the retaining nut (3) from the bracket.
  8. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .

  9. Object Number: 1013308  Size: SH
  10. Remove the retaining bolt (1) from the receiver dryer.
  11. Remove the O-ring.
  12. Remove the sealing washer.

Installation Procedure

  1. Replace the O-ring. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
  2. Replace the seal washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the retaining bolt (1) to the receiver dryer.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  6. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .

  7. Object Number: 1005370  Size: SH
  8. Connect the evaporator inlet tube fitting (1) to the evaporator.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

  10. Install the evaporator inlet tube to the bracket.

  11. Object Number: 1284875  Size: SH
  12. Install the A/C line bracket nut (1).
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).


    Object Number: 1005391  Size: SH
  14. Install the retaining nut (3) to the evaporator inlet tube bracket.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  16. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  17. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
