Tools Required

J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .



2. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube (1) from the evaporator.



3. Remove the retaining nut (1) from the A/C line bracket.



4. Remove the retaining nut (3) from the bracket.
5. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .



6. Remove the retaining bolt (2) from the evaporator outlet tube.
7. Remove the O-ring.
8. Remove the sealing washer.

1. Replace the O-ring. Refer to O-Ring Replacement .
2. Replace the seal washer. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.




3. Install the retaining bolt (2) to the evaporator outlet tube.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

4. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .



5. Connect the evaporator outlet tube fitting (1) to the evaporator.

Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).

6. Install the evaporator outlet tube to the bracket.



7. Install the A/C line bracket nut (1).

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).




8. Install the retaining nut (3) to the evaporator outlet tube bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

9. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
10. Leak test the fittings of the components using the J 39400-A .
