Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the following items from the cover:
  2. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The nuts
    • The retainer
  3. Remove the cover bolts.
  4. Remove the cover.

  5. Object Number: 215682  Size: SH
  6. Remove the retainers and the battery or batteries. Refer to Battery Replacement .
  7. Reposition the battery cables.
  8. Remove the following items from the battery box:
  9. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The nuts

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the battery box to the frame rail with the following items:
  2. • The bolts
    • The washers
    • The nuts

    Tighten
    Tighten the battery box to the frame nuts to 70 N·m (52 lb ft).

  3. Install the battery or batteries to the box with the retainers and bolts. Refer to Battery Replacement .
  4. Reposition the battery cables.
  5. Install the cover.
  6. Install the retainer and the bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the retainer bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
