Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

1. Turn ON the ignition with, the engine OFF.
2. Ensure the window lockout function is disabled.
3. Operate the power window from both the passenger window switch and the driver window switch.

Does the power window operate properly from both switches?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Is the power window inoperative from the driver switch only?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Is the power window inoperative from the passenger switch only?

Go to Step 33

1. Disconnect the driver power window switch.
2. Connect a test lamp between the driver window switch ignition 3 voltage circuit at the window switch harness connector and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 28

1. Connect the driver power window switch.
2. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
3. Connect a test lamp between the power window up signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and ground.
4. Actuate the driver power window switch in the up position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

1. Connect a test lamp between the power window down signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and ground.
2. Actuate the driver power window switch in the down position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

1. Disconnect the passenger power window switch.
2. Connect a test lamp between the power window lockout signal circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 22

Connect a test lamp between the ignition 3 voltage circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector and ground.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Connect a test lamp between battery positive voltage and the ground circuit at the passenger power window switch harness connector.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 11

1. Connect the passenger power window switch.
2. Disconnect the passenger power window motor.
3. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor up circuit at the power window motor harness connector and ground.
4. Place the passenger power window switch in the up position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 12

1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor down circuit at the power window motor harness connector and ground.
2. Actuate the passenger power window switch in the down position.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 13

1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor up and down circuits at the power window motor harness connector.
2. Place the passenger power window switch in the up and down positions.

Did the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 25

1. Remove the power window relay.
2. Connect a test lamp between the power window relay battery positive voltage circuit at the relay center and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 15

1. Turn ON the ignition with, the engine OFF.
2. Connect a test lamp between the power window relay ignition 1 voltage circuit at the relay center and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between battery positive voltage and the power window relay ground circuit at the relay center.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 17

1. Connect a fused jumper across the battery positive voltage circuit and the ignition 3 voltage circuit at the relay block.
2. Operate the power window from the power window switches.

Did the power window operate properly?

Test for the following in the power window up signal circuit:

Did you complete the repair?

Repair the poor connection or an open in the power window relay ignition 1 voltage circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Replace the driver power window switch. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .
