DEFINITION: High speed wipers or one or more of the low speed wiper motor functions are inoperative and may not park.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Operate the windshield wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Does the windshield wipers/washer system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

Do the windshield wipers operate in the high speed mode?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

  1. Disconnect the multifunction switch connector C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the low speed control circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.

Do the windshield wipers operate at low speed?

Go to Step 10

  1. Disconnect the multifunction switch connector C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the high speed control circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.

Do the windshield wipers operate at high speed?

Go to Step 10

Test the low speed control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 8

Test the high speed control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12

Inspect for poor connections at the multifunction switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Replace the multifunction switch. Refer to Turn Signal Multifunction Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 12
