Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front AQQ, AQR

1. Pry up the bottom of the bolt cover in order to remove the cover from the door pillar.

Important: Discard the original bolts.

2. Remove the seat belt and the shoulder bolt from the door pillar. Discard the bolt.
3. Remove the seat belt retractor bolt from the floor panel. Discard the bolt.
4. Remove the seat belt and the retractor from the vehicle.



5. For the high back seat belt bracket mounting, remove the seat belt bracket bolt from the seat.
6. Remove the seat belt locking cable bolt from the floor panel, if equipped. Discard the bolt.
7. Remove the seat belt bracket and the locking cable from the vehicle, if equipped.



8. For the low back seat belt bracket mounting, remove the seat belt bracket nut and washer.
9. For the low back seat belt bracket mounting, remove the seat belt bracket and the locking cable from the vehicle, if equipped.



10. Remove the seat belt bolt sealers. Discard the sealers.

1. Install the NEW seat belt bolt sealers.



2. For the low back seat belt bracket mounting, install the seat belt bracket and the locking cable , if equipped, to the vehicle.

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude behind the nut.

3. Install the NEW seat belt locking cable bolt to the floor panel, if equipped.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt bracket locking cable bolt so that the bolt is completely driven, seated and not stripped.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude beyond the nut or the anchor plate.

4. Inspect the bolts after installation.
5. For the low back seat belt bracket mounting, install the seat belt bracket nut and washer.

Tighten
Tighten the low back seat belt bracket bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).




6. For the high back seat belt bracket mounting, install the seat belt bracket and the locking cable , if equipped, to the vehicle.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude beyond the nut.

7. Install the NEW seat belt locking cable bolt to the floor panel, if equipped.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt locking cable bolt so that the bolt is completely driven, seated and not stripped.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude beyond the nut or the anchor plate.

8. Inspect the bolts after installation.
9. For high back bracket mounting, install the seat belt bracket bolt to the seat.

Tighten
Tighten the high back seat belt bracket bolt to 90 N·m (66 lb ft).




10. Install the seat belt and the retractor to the vehicle.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude beyond the nut.

11. Install the NEW seat belt retractor bolt to the floor.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt retractor bolt so that the bolt is completely driven, seated and not stripped.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude beyond the nut or the anchor plate.

12. Inspect the bolts after installation.




Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude from behind the nut.

13. Install the NEW seat belt and the shoulder bolt to the door pillar.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt and the shoulder bolt so that the bolt is completely driven, seated and not stripped.

14. Inspect the bolts after installation.

Important: Ensure that a minimum of 2 threads protrude from behind the nut or the anchor plate.

15. Install the cover over the door pillar anchor plate.

Seat Belt Retractor Replacement - Left Front ANZ, AN8, AQ1

1. Pry up the bottom of the bolt cover in order to remove the cover from the door pillar.
2. Remove the assist handle.

Important: Discard the original bolts connecting the seat belt to the pillar.

3. Remove the shoulder bolt from the door pillar. Discard the bolt.
4. Remove the seat belt from the seat frame.
5. Remove the lower outer seat belt bolt from the pillar.
6. Remove the access panel, if equipped.
7. Remove the lower inner seat belt bolt from the pillar.
8. Remove the seat belt retractor from the vehicle.

1. Install the NEW seat belt bolt sealers.
2. Insert the access panel onto the seat belt, if equipped.




Important: Use NEW bolts in order to install bucket seats.

3. Install the seat belt retractor to the pillar.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Important: A minimum of 2 threads must protrude behind the nut.

4. Install the NEW seat belt bolt to the pillar.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt retractor bolt so that the bolt is completely driven, seated and not stripped.

Important: A minimum of 2 threads must protrude behind the nut anchor plate device.

5. Install the access panel, if equipped and the lower outer bolt.

Tighten
Tighten the seat belt plate so that the plate pivots freely on the bolt.

6. Inspect the bolts after installation.
7. Install the NEW seat belt and the shoulder bolt through the door pillar.
8. Install the cover over the door pillar.
9. Install the assist handle.
