Removal Procedure
- Tilt the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
.
- Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Disconnect surge tank inlet hose (1) from the radiator surge tank.
- Disconnect surge tank outlet hose (2) from the radiator surge tank.
- Remove the overflow hose from the surge tank.
- Disconnect the low coolant sensor.
- Remove the radiator surge tank bolts.
- Remove the radiator surge tank from the mounting bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the surge tank to the mounting bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the surge tank bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connector to the low coolant sensor.
- Install the surge tank inlet hose (1) to the surge tank.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Install the surge tank outlet hose (2) to the surge tank.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
- Connect the overflow hose to the surge tank.
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Lower the cab. Refer to
Cab Tilting
