Removal Procedure

    Notice: Do not start the vehicle with any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses disconnected. When disconnected, plug or cap all openings of components. Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system.

  1. Install a drain pan under the vehicle.
  2. Siphon the fluid from the reservoir to prevent excessive spillage.

  3. Remove the reservoir inlet hose (1) from the reservoir.

    4. Object Number: 927196 Size: SH
  4. Remove the reservoir inlet hose from the power steering gear-outlet hose.

    5. Object Number: 1253665 Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering reservoir lnlet pipe/hose retaining bolt and nuts.
  6. Remove the hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: The inlet and outlet hoses must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort the inlet or outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

  1. Route the hose in the same position the hose occupied prior to removal.
  2. Smoothly route the hose in order to avoid sharp bends and kinking.

  3. Install the reservoir inlet hose to the power steering gear.

    4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1253665 Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering reservoir lnlet pipe/hose retaining bolt and nuts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts and bolt to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the reservoir inlet hose (1) to the reservoir.
  6. Position the clamp to the end of the hose.

    7. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 5 N·m (45 lb in).

  7. Check the power steering fluid level. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  8. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  9. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
