Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1373465 Size: SH
  1. Remove the battery carrier cover.

    2. Object Number: 1373485 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the negative cable from the negative battery terminal.
  3. Disconnect the positive cable from the positive battery terminal.

    4. Object Number: 1373467 Size: SH
  4. Remove the battery hold-down retainer nut/plate and hold-down brackets and rod.
  5. Remove the horizontal battery carrier nut and rod.
  6. Remove the battery from the carrier.
  7. Inspect the following components for damage:
    8. • The battery
    • The cables
    • The connectors
  8. Verify that the carrier is free from damage or foreign objects.
  9. Find and correct the cause of damage if any damage is noted.
  10. Clean the parts as necessary.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1373462 Size: SH
  1. Install the battery into the cleaned carrier.

    2. Object Number: 1373467 Size: SH
  2. Install the battery hold-down retainer rods and brackets.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the hold-down nut/plate.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the battery hold-down nut/plate to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  4. Install the horizontal battery carrier rod and nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the horizontal battery carrier rod nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Connect the positive cable to the positive battery terminal.
  6. Connect the negative cable to the negative battery terminal.

    7. Tighten

        • Tighten the side post terminal bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
        • Tighten the top post terminal nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  7. Install the battery carrier cover.
