Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Drain the engine oil from the crankcase.
  4. Remove the engine oil level indicator.
  5. Remove the bolts from the oil pan.
  6. Remove the oil pan.
  7. Important: All mating surfaces must be free of oil and dirt.

  8. Clean sealant from the oil pan and the block and also clean sludge and dirt from the inside of the oil pan.

Installation Procedure

  1. Apply sealant to the oil pan.
  2. Apply a bead of sealant approximately 2 mm (0.08 in) thick and approximately 3 mm (0.12 in) wide to the 4 corners of the cylinder block.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the oil pan bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan bolts to 24 N·m (17 lb ft).

  6. Install the oil level indicator.
  7. Connect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  8. Fill the crankcase with the proper grade and quantity of engine oil. Refer to Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations .
  9. Lower the cab.
