Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle?

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  3. Ensure the park brake is disengaged.

Do the daytime running lamps (DRL) illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Is the park brake indicator illuminated?

Go to Brake Warning Indicator Always On

  1. Disconnect the DRL ON relay.
  2. Probe the coil side control circuit with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 23

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Probe the switch side input circuit of the DRL ON relay with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Connect a fused jumper wire between the switch side input circuit and the switch side output circuit of the DRL ON relay.

Do the DRLs illuminate?

  1. Leave the fused jumper wire connected.
  2. Disconnect the DRL OFF relay.
  3. Probe the switch side input circuit of the DRL OFF relay with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a fused jumper wire between the switch side input circuit and the switch side output circuit of the DRL OFF relay.

Connect a test lamp between the coil side voltage supply circuit and the coil side control circuit of the DRL OFF relay.

  1. Disconnect the DRL OFF 2 relay.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between the coil side voltage supply circuit and the coil side control circuit of the DRL OFF relay.
  3. Probe the switch side input circuit of the DRL OFF 2 relay with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Leave the fused jumper wire connected.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the switch side input circuit and the switch side output circuit of the DRL OFF 2 relay.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the DRL series dropping resistor.
  2. Probe the voltage input side of the DRL series dropping resistor with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a fused jumper wire between the voltage input side and the voltage output side of the DRL series dropping resistor connector.
  2. Probe the switch side input circuit of the DRL ON relay with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the lighting relay.
  2. Probe the switch side input circuit of the lighting relay with a test lamp that is connected to ground.

  2. Probe the voltage input circuit of the DRL series dropping resistor with a test lamp that is connected to ground.
