- Raise and suitably support the vehicle, if required. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
- Clean the area around the fill plug.
- If equipped with the Eaton Fuller® FS series transmission, remove the oil fill plug (1).
- If equipped with the Eaton Fuller® RT series transmission, remove the oil fill plug (2).
- If equipped with the Spicer® ES transmission, remove the oil fill plug.
- Using your index finger, inspect the oil level.
- If the oil level is low, add fluid until correct.
- Ensure that the oil is level with the bottom of the fill plug opening.
- Install the oil fill plug.
- If equipped with the Eaton Fuller® RT series transmission, install the oil fill plug (2).
- If equipped with the Eaton Fuller® FS series transmission, install the oil fill plug (1).
- Lower the vehicle, if required.
Important: When adding oil, types and brands of oil should not be mixed because of possible incompatibility.
| • | If equipped with the Eaton Fuller® transmission, use Eaton Roadranger® CD50 transmission fluid. |
| • | If equipped with the Spicer® transmission, use Spicer® MIL-2104 D API-SF, or API-CD transmission fluid. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
If equipped with the Spicer® transmission tighten the oil fill plug to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).
Tighten
Tighten the oil fill plug to 82 N·m (60 lb ft).
