Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Disconnect the negative battery cables. Refer to Battery Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  4. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .

  6. Remove the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator electrical connector from the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator pressure switch.

  7. Object Number: 229725  Size: SH
  8. Remove the A/C condenser tube.
  9. Remove the O-ring seal.
  10. Discard the O-ring seal.

  11. Remove the A/C evaporator hose.
  12. Remove the O-ring seal from the A/C condenser.
  13. Discard the O-ring seal.

  14. Remove the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator clamp bolt.
  15. Remove the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator from the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator clamp.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the A/C receiver/dryer or the dehydrator into the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator clamp.
  2. Coat the new O-ring seal with R-134a Swash Plate P/N AIPDN 2-90188-300-0 refrigerant oil.
  3. Install the new O-ring seal.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Connect the A/C condenser tube to the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the condenser tube to receiver/dryer or dehydrator fitting to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Coat the new O-ring seal with R-134a Swash Plate P/N AIPDN 2-90188-300-0 refrigerant oil.
  8. Install the new O-ring seal.
  9. Install the A/C receiver/dryer and dehydrator clamp bolt.
  10. Install the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator electrical connector to the A/C receiver/dryer or dehydrator pressure switch.
  11. Connect the negative battery cables.
  12. Add the refrigerant to the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  13. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
  14. Lower the cab.
