1. Disconnect the 17 way IP harness connector (C3) at the instrument cluster.
2. Connect a J 39200 across the harness connector terminal 17 and ground.

Does the voltmeter indicate DC voltage?

Go to Step 2

Go to Step 3

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

System OK

1. Disconnect the engine control module connector.
2. Connect an J 39200 across the instrument cluster harness connector C3 terminal 17 and ground.

Does the ohmmeter indicate a short to ground?

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Locate and repair the short in CKT 250 (WHT) or CKT 19 (WHT) or CKT 30 (WHT) between the instrument cluster and the engine control module.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Connect an J 39200 across the instrument cluster harness connector C3 terminal 17 and the engine control module harness connector terminal 69.

Does the ohmmeter indicate a short?

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Replace the engine control module.

Is the repair complete?

System OK

Locate and repair the open in CKT 250 or CKT 19 (WHT) or CKT 30 (WHT) between the instrument cluster and the engine control module.

Is the repair complete?

System OK
