Removal Procedure
- Tilt the cab.
Refer to
Cab Tilting
in General Information.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Drain the coolant.
Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
.
- Remove the drive belts.
Refer to Engine Mechanical.

- Remove the water pump bolts.
- Remove the following components:
- Clean the following components:
• | The surface of the water pump |
• | The surface of the engine block |
• | The water duct sealing surfaces |
- Inspect the following components for wear, deterioration or corrosion.
Replace the components as necessary:
Installation Procedure
- Install new gaskets to the water pump.
- Install the water pump to the engine block.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the water
pump bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the water pump bolts to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).
- Lube the O-ring with soap suds.
- Install the following components:
- Install the water duct bolts.

- Tighten the M16 bolt to 125 N·m (92 lb ft).
- Install the temperature sensor connector (1).
- Install the following components to the water pump:
Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Install the following components to the pump:
Tighten
Tighten the adapter bolts to 68 N·m (50 lb ft).
- Install the drive belts.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Fill the cooling system.
- Inspect the system for leaks.
- Lower the cab.
