Generator Bracket Replacement Top Mounting Bracket

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable Replacement .
  2. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
  3. Remove the belts. Refer to Belt Tension Adjustment in Engine Mechanical.
  4. Remove the generator top mounting bolt.
  5. Remove the wire harness clamp.
  6. Remove the mounting bracket bolts.
  7. Remove the mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the mounting bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the mounting bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten

        • Tighten the mounting bracket to engine top bolt to 38 N·m (28 lb ft).
        • Tighten the mounting bracket to engine bottom bolts to 19 N·m (14 lb ft).
  5. Install the wire harness clamp.
  6. Install the belts.
  7. Install the generator mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 88 N·m (65 lb ft).

  9. Lower the cab.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.

Generator Bracket Replacement Accessory Mounting Bracket

Removal Procedure

  5. Remove the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts, if equipped.

  7. Remove the accessory mounting bracket bolts.
  8. Remove the accessory mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the accessory mounting bracket.

  3. Install the accessory mounting bracket bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the accessory mounting bracket bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  5. Install the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts, if equipped.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the air conditioning compressor mounting bolts to 39 N·m (29 lb ft).

  7. Install the air conditioning belt, if equipped.
  8. Install the generator.
  9. Lower the cab.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
