Inspect the ball stud (7) threads for the following conditions:

Corrosion

Inspect the ball stud nut (1) threads for the following conditions:

Damage

Corrosion
•
Inspect the ball stud (7) taper for the following conditions:

Nicks
-
Dirt
•
Inspect the tie rod end grease hole threads if equipped.
•
Replace the grease zerk fitting if equipped.
•
Clean all of the threads and tapers of the following compounds:
-
Dirt
-
Rust
•
Inspect the clamp (6), bolt (3) and nut (5) for the following:

Dirt
-
Rust
-
Stripped threads
•
If there is excessive wear, damaged threads, damage to the tie
rod ball joint, or excessive corrosion replace the tie rod ball joint and
the attaching parts.
