Condition

Some customers may comment on a low oil level and/or a low oil pressure gauge reading. Some customers may also comment that oil is present/leaking from around the turbo oil feed pipe area.

Cause

Engine vibration over time may cause the turbo oil feed pipe to possibly fracture and result in a slow oil leak from the turbo pipe connection to the engine.

Correction

Inspect the turbo oil feed pipe for any cracks or damage and for any oil that is leaking or present around the turbo oil feed pipe area. If this pipe is cracked or if any oil is present or leaking, replace the turbo oil feed pipe with a new pipe and hardware using the following procedure and the part numbers listed below.

If the turbo oil feed pipe shows no damage or there is no evidence of oil leaking in this area, further diagnosis may be required to determine the cause of the condition.

  1. Tilt the cab forward.

  2. Object Number: 1232293 Size: LH
  3. Remove the two bolts (1) from the turbo feed line on top of the turbo.
  4. Remove one bolt (7) at the pipe bracket.
  5. Remove the bolt (4) at the block for the turbo oil feed pipe and then remove the pipe assembly (2).
  6. Clean the mounting surfaces at the turbo and the engine block. Replace the O-ring and crush washers.
  7. Install the new oil feed pipe (2).
  8. Install, but do not tighten, the two bolts (1) at the turbo.
  9. Install, but do not tighten, the bolt (4) at the engine block.
  10. Install a new bracket (3) to the turbo and position the oil feed pipe into the new stabilizer clip hole (6). Position the clip so that there is no stress on the pipe.
  11. Tighten
Tighten the clip bolt (5) to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

    Tighten

        • Tighten the two bolts (1) at the turbo to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
        • Tighten the bolt (4) at the engine block to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).
  12. Close and lock the cab.
  13. Verify that there are no leaks.
