Removal Procedure

  1. Tilt the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
  2. Partially drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  3. Object Number: 209244  Size: SH
  4. Remove the following components from the radiator surge tank:
  5. 3.1. The inlet hose clamps
    3.2. The inlet hose
    3.3. The outlet hose clamps
    3.4. The outlet hose

  6. Remove the following components from the radiator surge tank:
  7. 4.1. The overflow hose clamp
    4.2. The overflow hose (1)

  8. Remove the low coolant sensor (1).
  9. Remove the radiator surge tank cap.

  10. Object Number: 209248  Size: SH
  11. Remove the radiator surge tank bolts.
  12. Remove the radiator surge tank (2) from the mount (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 209248  Size: SH
  1. Install the surge tank (2) to the mount (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the surge tank bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the low coolant sensor (1).

  6. Object Number: 209244  Size: SH
  7. Install the following components to the radiator surge tank:
  8. 4.1. The inlet hose
    4.2. The inlet hose clamps

    Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

    4.3. The outlet hose
    4.4. The outlet hose clamps

    Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  9. Install the following components to the radiator surge tank:
  10. 5.1. The overflow hose (1)
    5.2. The overflow hose clamp
  11. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  12. Install the surge tank pressure cap.
  13. Lower the cab. Refer to Cab Tilting in General Information.
