Circuit Description
The engine control module (ECM) is supplied with 12 volts through the
main relay system. If the main relays remain OFF for 5 seconds or more, DTC
0416 will set.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The main relay remains OFF for 5 seconds or more.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
Only the diagnostic lamp can be illuminated by the key current.
Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC
• | The control module turns OFF the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL)
after 3 consecutive ignition cycles that the diagnostic runs and does
not fail. |
• | A current DTC, Last Test Failed, clears when the diagnostic runs
and passes. |
• | A history DTC clears after 40 consecutive warm-up cycles,
if no failures are reported by this or any other emission related diagnostic. |
• | Clear the MIL and the DTC with a scan tool. |
DTC 0416 can be cleared by using the Clear Info option on the Tech 2
or by using the Diag Clear Switch.
Diagnostic Aids
• | Inspect for poor connections at the ECM. Inspect the harness connectors
for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged
terminals, and poor terminal-to-wire connections. |
• | Inspect the ECM powers and grounds. |
